About Dr. Naita

I lost my mother when I was in my mid-20s. Losing her so early meant growing into adulthood without her voice in my ear—the questions, encouragement, warnings, stories, and sage wisdom only a mother can give. 

So, I learned to find my way another way. I leaned heavily on formal education. Degrees, books, research, and mentors gave me knowledge and helped shape how I think. But some lessons could only be learned through life, experience, and a whole lot of trial and error.

There have been seasons when I truly understood Mary J. Blige's words:

“I was just a foolish girl trying to find my way.”

Life has challenged me, stretched me, humbled me, and grown me. And now that I am older—and hopefully a little wiser—I feel a responsibility to leave breadcrumbs and create pathways for those traveling behind me.

That is why the Sankofa symbol holds such meaning for me. The Akan symbol of a bird reaching backward while moving forward reminds us that as we move into the future, we should not forget to look back and retrieve what is valuable.

That is my daily reminder.

Don't just move forward.
Look back. Learn. Gather the wisdom. And leave something of value for those coming behind you.

That is why I teach.
That is why I write.
That is why I speak.
That is why I create.

I may not be able to give someone the voice of a mother in their ear. But perhaps I can leave a breadcrumb—a lesson, a question, a resource, a word of encouragement, or a pathway that helps someone find their way.

This is why I do what I do.

Dr. Naita B. Guine earned a Ph.D. in Education, a master's degree in Business Administration, and an undergraduate degree is Sociology. She has been approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching for National Certification Examination. Dr. Guine is currently a strategic enrollment data analyst and Civic Program leader at a state college.
